The Kansas Medical Society is a member-service organization dedicated to improving the environment in which Kansas physicians practice medicine, and to protecting the health of Kansas’ citizens. As the only statewide association advocating for physicians in every specialty, KMS works hard to provide physicians a respected, effective voice at the Statehouse on issues such as:

  • assuring the practice of medicine remains in physician hands
  • protecting Kansas’ tort reforms
  • improving Medicaid reimbursement
  • protecting the physician/patient relationship from inappropriate third-party influence

We strive to serve as a valuable, reliable information resource for physicians and their practices. From Board of Healing Arts regulations to third-party reimbursement, from CME programming to practice resources–our staff is available to answer questions for members on a wide range of issues.

A Long and Storied History

As the oldest corporation in the state of Kansas, the Kansas Medical Society has forged a rich history of advocacy for physicians and their patients. Founded on a cold, snowy February 10, 1859, by 29 dedicated physicians, the Kansas Medical Society was established in a committment to serve the people of Kansas.

More than a century and a half after its founding, the Kansas Medical Society continues to uphold the core principles that guided its earliest leaders. We remain committed to unwavering advocacy for the medical profession, for sound health policy, and for ensuring that physicians have the best possible environment in which to practice medicine.
